How often do you need deep cleanings?
My new clinic told me I have early periodontal pockets and need a scaling and root planing procedure instead of a normal cleaning. Is this really necessary or just a way to bill my insurance more?

Re: How often do you need deep cleanings?
Regular cleanings only scrape plaque above the gumline, but if you have deep pockets, bacteria are actively destroying the bone beneath. Getting a specialized teeth cleaning in Fort Lauderdale is absolutely vital to halt gum disease before your teeth loosen. I had a deep cleaning at Millennium Dental Center and it completely saved my smile. They numbed the area thoroughly, so I felt zero pain while they smoothed out the roots. My advice is to follow up with strict flossing and use an antiseptic mouthwash to allow the gum tissue to reattach firmly.
